By 2026, we are looking to have a facility. For this, we need an in-kind donation of 2+ acres in Stuart, Hobe Sound, or Palm City and a financial sponsor for a facility. Last night one of our coordinators and I went on a rescue mission to Miami to pick up this sweet girl. This is the dog that was receiving death threats from people in the neighborhood she was found in. Luckily, the finder was able to keep her safe for a few days so we could find a placement for her. Today she will enter a foster-to-adopt home meaning that once she is medically cleared for adoption, she is set to be adopted by her fosters. They already named her Nala!

For now, we need YOUR help. Our emergency rescue fund, the one that allows us to save dogs like this, is dangerously low. If you can, please consider donating toward Nala’s care. We already had a $428 bill and that doesn’t include her vaccine boosters, follow up appt, or spay. If you can’t donate, please SHARE!

This pup was found as a stray in Miami Gardens yesterday. The finder did not know what to do and did not have any help, so we stepped in to provide the pup with much needed care. Today we got her fully vetted which came to $428 (see bill). This included an exam, a full blood panel, a fecal, a 4DX test, flea/tick preventatives, and dewormer.

The vet estimates her to be around a year old and her tests show that she’s relatively healthy! If you can, please consider donating towards her care. We still need to get her spayed, which will be about $200.

Mary is the other pup we rescued from HSTC yesterday. Her medical seems to be a little heftier than Rocko’s.

Mary was found as a stray and is estimated by the shelter to be about 3 years old. She waited out her stray hold and nobody came for her. The shelter found a mass on her and results proved to be a MCT (Mass Cell Tumor). In addition to that, she experienced extreme FAS in the kennel, shaking in the corner, staring at the wall, and refusing to move.

HSTC posted a video of this sweet girl and my parents immediately called me to go get her. She had the surgery at HSTC to remove the cancer last week and we officially transferred her to Mable’s Mission yesterday. She is now at my parents house recovering and decompressing. She has already started to come out of her shell!

Mary may have a long medical road ahead of her. We have to run tests to find out if her margins are clean, treat her skin allergies, and possibly get her on a dewormer. We are praying her margins are clean and she won’t need any cancer treatments and/or surgeries.

We rescued 2 dogs from HSTC yesterday! Here we have Rocco, a 3 year old chihuahua mix that was paralyzed with fear at the shelter. He is now in a wonderful foster (possibly foster-to-adopt!) home decompressing!

Today we saved Utah (#A2560321) off of the MDAS euth list!

@_onedogatatime_ reached out to us yesterday asking for help. They needed a rescue to pull Utah to save his life and buy his adopter time to get back in to town. He will be with a sitter until Sunday waiting for his furever family to come get him.

Rescue takes a village! Without everyone’s hard work and dedication, Utah wouldn’t have gotten a second chance at life.

Utah was deadlined after he returned back to the shelter from his temp hurricane foster’s home. He immediately declined with severe kennel stress. Unfortunately, a lot of dogs suffer from kennel stress or FAS. I mean, do you blame them? It must be terrifying for those dogs in shelters. I encourage you to volunteer at your local shelter, walking dogs, and taking them for doggy day outs to get a break from the shelter and gain more exposure. After all, it could save their lives.

Warhol #А2215223 is SAFE!

Warhol is a 9 year old boy that was given a 48hr deadline at PBCACC due to dental and potential jaw problems. Luckily, with lots of hard work from Stacey @life_with_reef and his amazing foster, we were able to save him!

He may have quite the medical journey ahead but at least he’s safe and sleeping in a comfy bed.

Warhol is a part of our Last Chance Dog Project, a partnership with @life_with_reef @operationhomewardbound to help save dogs from death row at PBCACC.

He is 8 years old, smart, well-trained, dog-friendly, and very sweet! He is neutered, UTD on shots, and healthy. Marty even has his Canine Good Citizen award! This boy would make a great addition to any family, as long as there aren’t small kids and critters! He loves dogs, but not a fan of cats.

He is doing great in foster and his foster parents love him! They say he’s a great boy. Someone would be very lucky to welcome Marty into their family!

We are celebrating 2 adoptions today!🥳

Both these pups were saved from the PBCACC euthanasia list because amazing fosters stepped up for them. Ken Jr., pictured first, was going to be euthanized due to dermatitis… a very treatable and non contagious skin condition. He has since been happy and healthy.

Tyler is a 7 year old boy that was going to be euthanized for having heart worm, another treatable and non contagious condition. He is currently undergoing treatment but is a very happy and well-loved boy. Tyler was in our Last Chance Dog Project and was sponsored by @life_with_reef.

We are beyond grateful for the fosters, now the adopters, that stepped up for these 2 boys. Fostering saves lives!

Gator, Poppy’s Puppy (Flax), was the best mascot for us today at the Bark Back Benefit.

We feel honored to be able to provide pet food to our community here in Port Salerno. We collaborated with @mermaidandbearpetconcierge for this drive and got 5 amazing local business and 1 amazing business in WPB to put donation bins at their locations. Because of them and you guys that donated, shared, and supported, the people in our community affected by Hurricane Milton got the pet food and supplies they need.

All of our physical donations went to the @25uniteddisasterrelief distribution center. The donations from our Amazon wishlist got shipped to the Jefferson County Humane Society @wolfcreek_pet_adoption. They had been affected by Hurricane Helene.

We will CONTINUE to be boots on the ground at the @25uniteddisasterrelief distribution locations here in our community. You can continue to donate dog and cat food to the same 5 locations. We will be doing this until it’s no longer needed!

October is Pitbull Awareness Month! I wanted to highlight just a FEW of the pitties we saved early on in our rescue journey.

Here we have Rocco, Moon, Boogie, Big Boy Roy, and Pancho, all of which were saved from the PBCACC euthanasia list.

In Florida, bully breeds are the most common to be euthanized in shelters. Many end up there because of unfair breed restrictions, misconceptions, or irresponsible owners, rather than any fault of their own.

Pitbulls have gained a bad reputation over the years, largely because of mistreatment and bad ownership. When raised in a loving environment, these dogs are just as kind and gentle as any other breed. Did you know, that according to the American Temperament Test Society, pitbulls consistently score as one of the most well-behaved breeds in terms of temperament? It’s true!

It’s time we recognize that pitbulls are not the problem and that misunderstanding and mistreatment are. They are loyal, loving, and incredible dogs who deserve a fair chance at life. Let’s spread the word, change the narrative, and help give pitbulls the love and respect they deserve.

Urgent foster needed for 2 stray dogs in WPB! All other rescues contacted have closed their intake due to the storm. PBCACC is at capacity and they’d be at risk for euthanasia so the Good Samaritan that found them doesn’t want to bring them there. We need HELP!

We need pledges for their medical AND a foster. They are dog friendly but we don’t know anything else about them. The male is intact and we can only assume the female is not spayed. They will need to get these surgeries ASAP! Please, we need a foster and pledges for both of them.

A previous foster and adopter of ours found them on the side of the road covered in dirt and filth. We don’t know how long they’ve been on the streets. We need a placement for them by Friday or they have nowhere to go.

Urgent foster needed for Marty McFly! He is a dog-friendly senior boy. Here are some things about him!

Marty is an 8 year old black mouth cur mix. He is an incredibly smart, loyal and fun dog. He’s very trained and has his Canine Good Citizen certification (CGC). He thinks he’s a lap dog and LOVES to snuggle. Plus, he’s a terrific guard dog! He loves hiking, kayaking, the beach, going on boats, is a great travel companion and is always up for an adventure.

Marty’s an athletic dog who has multiple titles in barn hunt, loves the agility course and has graduated basic obedience, advanced obedience, focus proofing and beginner & intermediate agility. He loves playing with his doggy sister, swimming, fetching, chasing squirrels, walks, playing with other dogs at daycare, and will do anything for a treat. Tricks? He knows them all! He’s also content with just 1 walk a day and a comfy place to nap.

The only things he doesn’t love are cats, small critters, fireworks and thunder.

The “Watch Me” Method is an amazing way to train your dog to focus on you. If you can get your dog to focus on you on command, you can redirect them from distractions or triggers.

Remember, that your dog respects and loves you. They want to please and impress you. Be sure to understand that and give your dog the positive reinforcement and encouragement they need to succeed.

Mable’s Mission and @mermaidandbearpetconcierge are partnering for our first Hurricane Relief Donation Drive for some of the animal shelters and areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

Jefferson County Humane Society’s @wolfcreek_pet_adoption is our Florida beneficiary through our Amazon Wishlist. We will also have shipments transported by @25uniteddisasterrelief to the affected areas in the Asheville/Banner Elk areas. Items will be distributed to shelters and pet owners in need. Our most pressing item is food and we can accept all unopened food and treats AND gently used towels and dog beds.

We closed our intake about a week ago because we are very short on funds and have 6 more spay/neuters to cover and not enough money to do it.

This morning we got a call about a dog set to be euthanized at PBCACC. 7 years old, dog-friendly, and heart worm positive. We were in no financial position to save this dog. Luckily, a financial sponsor came forward to cover the cost of his HW treatment AND Stacey from @operationhomewardbound pledged $500 towards his care. Because of these generous donations, we are able to save this this dog’s life!

This pup is named Tyler. He was found as a stray in Boynton Beach and then recently given a deadline at PBCACC. He is now SAFE and decompressing in foster. The already has a vet appt scheduled near the foster’s house to begin his HW treatment.

Adopt Greyson! This 8 month old boy is dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and kid-friendly! He is goofy, sweet, and very playful. He’s a catch and we have no idea how he hasn’t been adopted yet. He loves to play and we have found that he also loves to go swimming! He is the perfect adventure pup.

He is about 55lbs right now and is expected to get between 60-70lbs.

It’s National Puppy Mill Awareness Day which makes it the perfect opportunity to educate yourself on puppy mills in the US. These dogs are kept in small crates, living in their own urine and feces. Puppy mill owners provide the most basic of care, just to be able to skate around the law. It’s disgusting and heartbreaking.

The data from @humanesociety and @bestfriendsanimalsociety show us exactly how we can come together to make a difference for these dogs.

Pumpkin Pupdate:

It’s a miracle that the Dr. decided not to operate immediately. In most Tibial Tuberosity Avulsions, surgery is required. He did a few tests and since the broken off bone is not moving freely within her leg, he wants to give her body a week to try to heal itself. Surgery may still be in the cards but for right now she is essentially on bed rest.

Even without the surgery, she will have a 6 week recovery. This will encompass multiple rounds of imaging, physical therapy, and meds.

Thank you to everyone for your support and your donations. Your donations have allowed her to get the treatment she needs so far. Imaging and consults are not cheap and we appreciate every dollar donated towards her care.

We will find out if she needs the surgery on Wednesday. Fingers crossed her body is healing in injury on its own.
